Born Pretty Nail Art Pen Review

Hi Everyone! I have a pretty cool product from Born Pretty Store I would like to share with you. This is their new 2 way Nail Art Pen in White and 2 way Nail Art Pen in Black.

These pens have two options. One is a very fine metal tip. The other option is a striper brush.
Unlike other nail art pens, the tip of these pens don't look like ball tip. These are actually very small tubes that the polish can get through. But because they are so thin, the polish don't just flow, but you have to play a little pressure on the body of the pen to make the polish come out. This is great because you can control the flow pretty easy while you use this pen. It does have a little disadvantage though - you have to be extra careful whenever you start to use the pen because usually the first drop of polish at the tip is larger then the others. (you will see what I mean later in the picture if the lines).

For some reason the stripers were not in the same size so I can't tell you which is the "normal" one and which is the different one. I can say however that the black striper is easier to use.

So let's try to use them both. First a sample of the lines over a piece of paper. The three lines on the right are made with the pen tip and the three lines on the left are made with the striper. Notice the top of the pen lines. They all start with a little dot larger then the rest of the line. That is the problem of this kind of pen. You can avoid it but you need to be very careful to do it. The lines themselves are pretty thin and you can play a little with their thickness by applying more or less pressure on the pen's body while you use it.

The striper brush works just like any other striper brush. the polish itself is thicker then regular polish and it reminds me more of the special stamping polish. As a result you can play with the lines thickness again by using more or less polish on your striper, but even if you use the smallest amount of polish to make the thinner line, you still get a nice visible line because the polish has not dried yet. The disadvantage of this is a slight longer drying time on the nail, but it is still a reasonable time.
The white polish is somewhat thinner then the black one so again - I don't know which is the "right" one and which is the other but as I said before - the black is easier to work with albeit it dries slower.

Personally, I liked the pen tip very much, both in the black and the white pens. The striper however was not very useful. it's main problem is the pen-shape of this tool. The bottom end is not stable enough to keep the pen standing while using the striper brush. So unless you want the entire content spilled all over, you must have it standing in a glass or some other sort of support and it is very uncomfortable. But the pen is really great. I tried several different manis with it and different types of lines and personally - I loved it!

This last mani was made using the pens only. No polish under them, and you can see that they give a very good cover. Also, you can definitely see them over any polish. Even the white one can be very clear over black background polish. The smears that you can see on my two middle nails are due to my impatience... My top coat mixed them together a little. But by looking at my index and thumb you can see that it was only a matter of one-two more minutes. (yes, I always start applying polish or Top Coat from the ring nail and up to the thumb and I leave my pinky to be the last. I'm weird like that. LOL)

Over all I really loved these pens. I think they are very easy to use and they give a great coverage. Because of the way they work, they may not be the perfect ones for small details of free-hand drawing, but they are perfect to create all sort of patterns, dots and lines on your nails. They are held comfortably just like you would hold any regular pen and they are thick enough to allow you to hold them pretty steady even in your off-hand.

You can find these pens in Born Pretty Store, where they are sold for $3.96 each and FREE international shipping.  Here are direct links to these pens in Black and in White. They also available in different colors an you can find a lot of other nail art accessories.
